Adoption FAQ's
Have questions about our adoption process? Here are some of our most common questions. If you are not able to find your answer or have more questions please contact us by email: CrazyCatAlaska.Rescue@gmail.com
1
What is the adoption process?
Our adoption process is a little different but is simple:
1. Submit an online application.
2. Submit additional required documents. The required documents include an Interested Persons Report for each adult residing in your home. And for adopters who are renting their home we require proof of landlords approval.
3. Sign the Commitment Agreement
4. Visit your requested animal 4 times within the Cat Lounge
5. Submit the adoption fee.

What is the adoption fee?
$150
3
Why do I have to submit an Interested Persons Report?
The Interested Persons Report is a simple form of background check. We are specifically checking for animal related crimes that would potentially be dangerous for our animals.
4
Why do I have to visit before I can take my cat home?
It's important to remember that each of our animals have been displaced for one reason or another and our primary goal is to ensure they wont be displaced in the future.
We require visits for 3 main reasons:
1. Adopters can be sure the animals behavior and personality will mesh well with their existing household and lifestyle, preventing adoptions driven by markings, colors, and breed types.
2. The animals begin to recognize and bond with their adopters which makes transitioning to their home less scary.
3. Proves to us that the adopter is truly dedicated to setting time aside for the animals wellbeing.

5
Can someone else adopt my cat while I'm working on my commitment visits?
No. Once you've signed the Commitment Agreement the animal you've chosen will be placed on hold thru the duration of your agreement.
6
Is the cat I want on hold when I submit the online application?
No. While every effort is made to ensure that animals are not adopted out from under anyone we get many application packets that never go beyond the initial online application. So an animal is not held until a Commitment Agreement is signed.

We recommend getting your documents turned in as quickly as possible. Occasionally the landlord approval can take a little bit of time, please communicate with us and we are more than willing to work with you.
7
I have a Commitment Agreement but I fell in love with another cat. What do I do?
This is exactly why we require Commitment Visits. Sometimes another cat's behavior and personality will suit yours and your household more than the one you initially wanted. In the event you would like to change who you're adopting please let us know ASAP so we can amend your agreement and change the animal who is on hold.
8
When can I take home my cat?
Take home day is the date of your last visit or after. Some situations require us to hold the animal for a short time once commitment visits are complete. If this happens to you just let us know.
